You have accepted your first job, and shortly, will start working and begin your career as a practicing engineer. (For information on the job search process, check out the ASME Career Center) If you are like most recent graduates, you likely have many questions racing through your mind: "Am I ready?" "Do I know enough?" "What will it be like?" 'What will they expect from me?' "How can I prepare myself to succeed?" Making the transition from a campus environment to the workplace can be scary. But that is not because there is anything inherently frightening about starting your first job. It relates more to the fact that you are moving from the known comfort of your academic life to the unknown realities of your professional life. The intent of the module is to help ease those transition anxieties by providing you with insight as to what to expect during your first days, weeks and months on the job and at the same time help you build the foundation for a successful engineering career.
